State Representative Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills) voted for legislation that raises awareness for asthma during yesterday’s session.

Senate Bill 124 designates the month of May as “Asthma Awareness Month” and May 5th as “Childhood Asthma Awareness Day.”

“Raising the awareness for childhood asthma will help all Ohioans to be better informed about the condition and how to properly care for a child who suffers with asthma,” Rep. Anielski said.

Asthma is a lung disease that leads to breathing difficulty due to airways that become blocked or narrowed. More than 20 million Americans have the disease, according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.

Having passed both legislative chambers, the bill now awaits consideration by Governor John Kasich.
