COLUMBUS – Sponsored by State Representative Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills), Sub. House Bill 557 was favorably reported out of the House Health Committee. The bill would grant a license to art therapists to practice in the State of Ohio under the guidance of the Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. The licensure process would enforce standards of training, practice, and discipline across a therapeutic practice that has rapidly expanded in recent years.

The bills would mandate appropriate personnel in both public (House Bill 502) and private (House Bill 503) schools to receive suicide prevention and awareness education on an annual basis. The need for the legislation arose after a serial offender, arrested ten times for approaching women in public places and groping them, assaulted another woman after being released from jail.

The bill designates Glenn’s childhood home, located in New Concord, as a state historic site through the Ohio History Connection. Known as the John and Annie Glenn Museum, the time-honored home allows the public to enjoy memorabilia and artifacts that link to the life and accomplishments of Senator Glenn, who in 1962 became the first American to orbit the earth and later would become a United States Senator. State Representative Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills) testified before the House Committee on Transportation and Public Safety in support of House Bill 288. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Anielski, would give the North Royalton City School District a license plate through the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. The license plate would cost an extra $40 to the normal cost of new license plates and bear an image decided upon by the school district. Of the additional charge, the school would receive $30, which can only be used to fund emotional and mental well-being programs, determined by the administration, for the students of the district.

We now find ourselves in October, which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a period set aside to bring attention to an issue that is so often hidden away. Domestic violence, defined as a pattern of abusive behaviors including physical, emotional, and sexual abuse used by an intimate partner against another, can be difficult to identify. Unfortunately, many victims have been manipulated into thinking such actions are out of love and never seek help. That’s why having a month where we can spread awareness is so important—we must spread the message that those who experience domestic violence are not alone and that there are communities out there ready to help you to safety. We must work together to reduce the statistics of domestic violence and remove the stigma associated with coming forth as a victim.

09.18.17 - State Representative Anielski, Local School Officials Testify Before House Transportation Committee

 
COLUMBUS - 

State Representative Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills) and representatives from Walsh Jesuit High School recently gave testimony before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. They testified in favor of House Bill 261, which would grant Walsh Jesuit High School a custom license plate, for which sales would generate additional revenue for the school. Under the bill, the license plate would cost an additional $40, of which $30 would go directly to the school. Half of those monies would be earmarked for programs in support of emotional and mental well-being programs for the students, while the other half would go to the school’s tuition assistance efforts.

COLUMBUS – Last week, State Representative Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills) testified before the Ohio House Committee on Transportation and Public Safety on behalf of House Bill 88. The bill would grant Cuyahoga Valley Career Center a specialty license plate and give the school additional funding to be used for the expansion of programs benefiting the students. The plates cost an additional $40 to purchase, of which $30 goes to the school for the benefit or expansion of mental health and well-being programs.

The bill, formerly House Bill 439 in the 131st General Assembly, would make it a crime to produce or pander sexually explicit material involving impaired persons. If passed, the bill would raise such a crime to the same status as that involving a minor.

The Common Sense Initiative (CSI) is a program that reviews Ohio’s regulatory framework and works to find solutions that are business friendly and transparent. The office weighs the benefits of rules created by state agencies and departments with the negative effects on business. Since 2012, CSI has reviewed nearly 8,000 rules and policies and helped to find common ground between state regulators and the business community. In 2015 alone, 2,316 rules were reviewed, nearly half of which were changed as a result of comments and suggestions to the office. Through CSI’s open and transparent process, standards are maintained while red tape is cut for businesses that were struggling to comply with burdensome regulations.

The card will display a photograph of the veteran, military service dates, and other pertinent information regarding the veteran’s service. The legislation, which first passed the House in January of this year, requires prescribers to obtain informed parental or guardian consent for minors to receive a controlled substance containing opioids.

She represents the 6th Ohio House District, which includes portions of eastern Cuyahoga County.
