State Representative Mark Romanchuk (R-Ontario) was presented the Legislator of the Year Award for 2015 from the Ohio Association of County Boards of Developmental Disabilities (OACB) for his work within his own community, as well as at the state level in his capacity as state representative.

“I was honored to receive this award today from the OACB,” said Rep. Romanchuk. “I am especially grateful for the work of this association. What they do for the Developmental Disability community is to be commended and applauded.”

The OACB works to serve people with developmental disabilities and to provide services and support to those individuals in the state. Rep. Romanchuk was selected to receive the Legislator of the Year Award because of his work on the House Finance Committee and its subcommittee on Health and Human Services in working on the state operating budget, which included $20 million in funding for county boards of developmental disabilities.

In August, he led a discussion on the Employment First initiative, encouraging employers to provide job opportunities for people with disabilities. He is also in the process of making changes to the company he owns and operates, PR Machine Works, Inc., to make the workplace more accommodating to individuals with disabilities.

He is currently serving his second term in the House. He represents the 2nd District, which comprises all of Richland County.

The award was presented during the OACB’s 32nd Annual Convention in Columbus. Awards are presented to elected or appointed officials who exhibit high accomplishments in legislative leadership for people with developmental disabilities.
