COLUMBUS - 

State Representative Mark Romanchuk (R-Ontario) today was sworn in as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives for the 130th General Assembly. He represents the 2nd Ohio House District, which comprises all of Richland County.


“I am looking forward to going to work at the Statehouse for the benefit of Richland County. My focus will be on crafting policies that grow our economy, create opportunity, and get Richland County citizens back to work,” said Romanchuk. “As state representative, I’ll work to restore Ohio’s manufacturing base, and will fight for Richland County’s place at the economic development table.”


Representative Romanchuk has nearly 30 years’ experience in small business, systems engineering and management, and community development. He is the owner and president of PR Machine Works, Inc., a contract manufacturer providing precision machining, fabrication, and assembly services in the city of Ontario. Prior to his work with PR Machine Works, he worked at Hughes Aircraft Company as a U.S. diplomat to the former Soviet Union in support of the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty. He also had been based in Japan as a team leader and technical advisor to the U.S. Navy in support of the F/A – 18 aircraft.


He has been heavily involved in his community, particularly in local efforts to create jobs and in workforce development. He is a member of the National Tooling and Machining Association and served as Economic Region 6’s team leader for the state’s “Ohio Skills Bank,” which strives to develop regional manufacturing career pathways.


Additionally, he is the co-founder and past president of the Regional Manufacturing Coalition and serves on the Richland Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, having served as the board’s chairman in 2011. He serves on the Leadership Board of the Richland Community Development Group, the city of Ontario’s Vision Team for economic development, the North Central State College Foundation, Mansfield Sertoma Club, and FirstMerit Bank’s Local Advisory Board. He is an active member of the National Federation of Independent Business and the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association.

Resolution Pushing For Innovative Metals Institute Clears Legislature

State Representative Mark Romanchuk (R-Ontario)  announced that the Ohio Senate has passed a resolution he sponsored that urges the US Department of Defense to establish the “American Lightweight Materials Manufacturing Innovation Institute.” The House adopted the resolution October 16th.



 
 

Legislation To Rebrand Ohio Workforce Development Centers Moves To Governor

The Ohio House of Representatives today concurred on Senate changes to Substitute House Bill 1, which strives to streamline Ohio’s workforce development efforts and make it easier for Ohioans to utilize the resources that are available to them.
