America recently recognized the 14th anniversary of September 11th. I am sure everyone remembers exactly what we were doing that day.  The United States was brutally attacked that morning, and many men and women died leaving behind a bruised and mournful country.

No one can dispute the incredible examples of bravery and sacrifice displayed by American peace officers on that day.  Their courage will never be forgotten, and I hope that Ohioans continue to show their gratitude toward our local law enforcement officials for their pledges of duty and their acts of heroism shown in big and small ways throughout our community every day.

Ohio’s law enforcement individuals put their lives on the line for the people of this state on a daily basis. From the State Highway Patrol which keeps our highways safe to the local police forces of our cities and towns, we owe these men and women a debt of gratitude.  While serving as your state representative, I have made supporting our peace officers a priority because it goes hand-in-hand with the safety of our citizens.

More and more attention is being focused on our law enforcement officials these days. While we work to strengthen the relations between police officers and members of the community, it is my goal to do everything I can to help these brave men and women.  Our peace officers are vitally important to enforcing our state and federal laws and ensuring that order is maintained.  They preserve our freedom and make certain that we enjoy a safer, more productive society.  Without them, our families would be in jeopardy, and many of the values that we share could be threatened.

So I encourage those in Richland County to simply thank their local police officers and other public safety officials for their daily sacrifices on behalf of our security and for the protection of our loved ones.  Because of them, America is a symbol of justice, strength and freedom.
