COLUMBUS -

State Representative Marilyn Slaby (R-Copley) today announced that Ohio’s unemployment rate has fallen to 6.9 percent, according to the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services.

Additionally, revised numbers from the US Department of Labor show that Ohio has created more than 238,000 private-sector jobs in the last three years, 67,700 more jobs than the Department originally believed. Over the past 12 months, Ohioans have created nearly 70,000 new private sector jobs.

“This is excellent news for the state of Ohio, and proof that the model of job creation here is working,” Slaby said. “Ohioans are getting back to work, but there is still more to be done.”

The new jobs statistics were part of the Labor Department’s annual recalculation of jobs data.
