COLUMBUS - 

State Representative Kristina Daley Roegner (R-Hudson) recently welcomed 11 local students from the 37th House District to the Ohio Statehouse has part of the “Legislator for a Day” reading program.


The students were selected as winners of the program, which is designed to encourage students in grades 1-6 to read as well as help them become familiar with their local libraries. The winners were invited to Columbus to spend the day with Rep. Roegner, where they received a tour of the Statehouse and participated in a mock legislative session.


“I really enjoyed working with children and teaching them about our state legislature by providing a hands-on and interactive environment for them here in Columbus,” said Rep. Roegner.


The following students were selected as winners and invited to be legislators for a day:


• Brendan Ashurst (grade 2)
• John Comi (grade 2)
• Marie Comi (grade 6)
• Nick Comi (grade 1)
• Dallas Korff (grade 3)
• Alexis Starnes (grade 3)
• Dakota Starnes (grade 1)
• Claire Suntken (grade 4)
• Margaret Suntken (grade 1)
• Amelia Swain (grade 2)
• Lily Swain (grade 5)


Students participated in the “Legislator for a Day” program by picking up a program bookmark at a participating library and recording five books that they have read on the back of the bookmark, which served as their entry form.

Ohio House Passes Boiler Legislation

The Ohio House of Representatives, with bipartisan support, has passed legislation dealing with Ohio’s boiler law that would allow businesses and individuals to operate low-pressure steam boilers or power boilers, or a stationary steam engine, without the presence of a licensed boiler operator or steam engineer.

State Representative Kristina Daley Roegner (R-Hudson) today was sworn in as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives for the 130th General Assembly. She represents the 37th Ohio House District, which includes portions of central and northeast Summit County.
