Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) and State Representative Kirk Schuring (R-Canton) today announced the schedule and location for screening applicants to fill the 89th House District seat.

The screening panel will interview all applicants who applied by the August 28th deadline. Interviews will be closed to the public and take place in Columbus on September 18th and 19th.

As previously announced, Rep. Schuring will serve as chair of the screening panel, and Speaker Pro Tempore Ron Amstutz (R-Wooster), Majority Floor Leader Rep. Barbara Sears (R-Monclova Township), Rep. Terry Boose (R-Norwalk) and Rep. Tim Brown (R-Bowling Green) will all serve as members of the panel.

“I’m looking forward to joining with my fellow panel members to interview this impressive group of applicants,” Rep. Schuring said. “Our goal will be to thoughtfully consider each candidate and examine their potential for faithfully serving the citizens of the 89th House District.”

A decision is expected to be made by the following week with a full vote by the House Republican caucus expected in the coming weeks.
