03.15.18 - State Rep. Keith Faber Demands Transparency, Equal Playing Field And Access For Individual Pharmacies

COLUMBUS—State Representative Keith Faber (R-Celina) condemned the lack of transparency between Medicaid and pharmacy benefit managers in the Medicaid program. Ohio spends tens of billions of dollars on Medicaid and prescription drugs per year. Over the past two years, 165 Ohio pharmacies have closed. There are significant concerns that the lack of transparency has allowed certain PBMs to overcharge and use their near monopoly power within the Medicaid system to hurt or shut down competitors to its own pharmacies.

03.02.18 - Guest Column From State Representative Keith Faber: Fellowship Offers Experience In Public Service

Entering the workforce as a young professional can be daunting. Many jobs that claim to be entry-level require experience most graduates have not yet had the chance to acquire, and for those who are unsure of their next step, that stage of life can be overwhelming. This is why I want to encourage all rising and recent graduates interested in a career in public service to consider the Ohio Legislative Service Commission (LSC) Fellowship. For those seeking to jumpstart a career, the program offers fulltime employment for 13 months on the front lines of state politics, all the while making lasting connections and gaining skills that will benefit fellows in any future field.

01.05.18 - Guest Column From State Representative Keith Faber

If you’ve lived in Ohio for any significant period of time, you know the winters can be brutal. From lake effect snow in the northeast to snow drifts across the flatlands of western Ohio, our state experiences a variety of winter weather. Some years it’s a few feet of snow, and others we have endless days of below-freezing temperatures. Whatever the weather will be over the coming months, it’s critical that you and your family are properly prepared.

12.13.17 - Guest Column From Rep. Faber: Community Comes Together In The Face Of Natural Disaster

There isn’t a much better part of my job as a State Representative than to see my community come together during a time of need. In November, Celina and Mercer County experienced an EF-2 tornado with winds up to 120 miles per hour. Many homes and companies lost power, and several local businesses incurred damage that will require months of work to repair.

09.18.17 - Column From Rep. Faber: BWC Rebates Position Ohio For A Brighter Future

Ohio’s workers are essential to the growth of our economy. Since its inception, the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) has been helping private and public employers protect their employees in the workplace. The premiums paid by these employers go towards offering important safety services and resources in cases of job-related injuries.

09.13.17 - Guest Column From State Representative Keith Faber: Constitution Day--A Reminder Of Its Creation And Intentions

Two hundred and thirty years ago, the founding fathers of this country took the steps to form a more perfect union. On September 17, 1787, the United State Constitution was signed by 39 out of the 55 delegates to the Constitutional Convention. Soon after our war for independence from Great Britain was won in 1783, the founders determined that the original constitution, the Articles of Confederation, were too weak to support a new nation. And thus, the Constitution was born.

07.07.17 - Guest Column From State Representative Keith Faber: Celebrating Celina And The Lake This Summer

Summertime is in full swing, and that means one thing in Ohio, it is fair season! One of my favorite local festivals to attend is the Celina Lake Festival, taking place on the shores of Grand Lake St. Marys. Not only is the Lake Festival a great opportunity for the Celina community to come together, but it also serves as a celebration of an important resource in western Ohio.

06.13.17 - Guest Column From State Representative Keith Faber: Old Glory Withstands The Changes Of Time

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America…” We’re all familiar with this phrase, it has been ingrained in our existence as Americans since the first days of elementary school. In fact, the members of the Ohio House and Senate continue this tradition, reciting the pledge before session each time we meet. As public servants of this great nation, our loyalty to “Old Glory” is of the utmost importance; we must uphold the values it represents.

05.24.17 - Guest Column From State Representative Keith Faber: Honoring Our Fallen Heroes On Memorial Day

This weekend, Memorial Day, marks the unofficial beginning of summer. Rightfully, we take the opportunity to gather with friends and families, those we hold dear, to celebrate. 03.31.17 - Guest Column From State Representative Keith Faber: Passage Of House Bill 51 Would Result In More Accountable Government

In the private sector, companies that refuse to face the realities of the changing market go out of business. Competition breeds innovation. Historically, government has had the luxury of not worrying about competition. So naturally, they have not felt the pressure to innovate, cut costs, and return money to the people and instead simply opt to maintain the status quo. As Ronald Reagan once quipped, “’Status quo’ is Latin for the ‘mess we’re in.’” Today, taxpayers deserve and are demanding better.

03.06.17 - Guest Column From State Representative Keith Faber: LSC Fellowship An Opportunity To Get Involved In State Government

Graduation is fast approaching, which means the job market will soon be flooded with well-educated new professionals looking to start careers. What recent graduates will find is a competitive field that values intelligence and experience. Many who easily clear the first hurdle, however, find themselves stumped by the second. Graduates today are expected not only to have spent their time in college becoming educated individuals, but they are expected to accrue workplace experience that will give them the edge when applying for jobs after.

02.17.17 - Guest Column From State Representative Keith Faber: Honoring All Of Our Presidents, The Popular And The More Unknown

February seems to have a penchant for producing great presidents. February 22 was the birthday of our first president, George Washington, the father of our country. February 12 was the birthday of the man who saved the union, Abraham Lincoln. Last, but certainly not least, February 6 was the birthday of the greatest president of my lifetime, Ronald Reagan. With a lineup like this, it is no surprise that we dedicate a day in February to remember all of those 45 men who served their country as its president. But Presidents’ Day also affords us the opportunity to remember some presidents who do not get the credit they deserve for all they did for our nation.

02.14.17 - Guest Column From State Representative Keith Faber: Looking Back On The 131st General Assembly, Taking On The 132nd

A little over a month ago, I was standing at the podium presiding over Senate session as president of that body. Now, I am sitting in my predecessor’s seat in the Ohio House of Representatives as a freshman member. While my role has changed, my appreciation for being elected by you has not. I may no longer be Senate President, but as a legislator, I still have one of the best jobs in the world.
