Keith Faber - House District 84

State Representative Keith Faber has dedicated the past 16 years to serving Ohioans in the Statehouse. He represents the 84th District, which encompasses Mercer County, as well as portions of Auglaize, Darke and Shelby counties. He most recently served two terms as the 94th President of the Senate and previously served three terms in the Ohio House of Representatives.

Representative Faber leads with the goal of making Ohio the best place to live, work and raise a family. He focuses his priorities on creating opportunities for all Ohioans through creating jobs, promoting economic growth and stability, streamlining government, cutting taxes, and investing in health and education. During his tenure as Senate President, over 90% of the bills passed in the 129th and 130th General Assemblies were bipartisan.

Under his leadership as Senate President, more Ohioans have a job today than at any time in recent years. More than 430,000 new jobs have been created since 2011, Ohio’s unemployment rate has dropped from 9.8% to under 5 percent, and wage growth continues to outpace the national average. Taxes have been cut by nearly $5 billion, allowing Ohioans to keep more of their hard-earned dollars to choose how to spend and invest.  New business growth is at a record high, and another year of significant growth is expected. Primary and secondary education has received its largest investment in state history, and Representative Faber has championed choice, reforms and accountability to make sure our students are receiving the best education possible at an affordable price.  He has also been recognized for his efforts to make government more efficient and transparent for all Ohioans, including significant work on the state’s regulatory framework, as well as access to Ohio’s public records.

An award-winning fiscal conservative, Representative Faber has been a consistent advocate of jobs for Ohioans and has developed a strong record of lower taxes, restraint in state spending and an overall smaller, more responsible government. For his efforts, he has been named a Watchdog of the Treasury five times (2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 & 2012), Outstanding Legislator of the Year (2004) by the United Conservatives of Ohio, as well as a two-time recipient of the Ronald Reagan Excellence in Government Award.

Other honors include receiving the Moms for Ohio’s Public Service award for his work to promote strong families and traditional Ohio values. He also received the Ohio Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs’ 2016 Blue Door Award for his support of programs that provide safe, engaging and inspiring environments for Ohio’s youth.  He has been recognized for his commitment to agriculture with the “Friend of Agriculture” award (2014) by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation Agriculture for Good Government Political Action Committee, and the Inter-University Council awarded him the Commitment to Ohio’s Public Universities & Students award (2014) for his dedication to higher education. In 2016, he was recognized as Clean Fuels Ohio’s “Legislator of the Year” for his dedication to identifying alternative fuel sources.

Outside of his legislative duties, Representative Faber is the principal partner with Faber and Associates in Celina, a law firm emphasizing in civil litigation and mediation. He earned his Juris Doctorate from The Ohio State University in 1991. He did his undergraduate work in public administration/policy with a minor in biology, graduating with honors from Oakland University in Michigan in 1988. He holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Toledo.

He remains active in the community, holding membership in the Mercer County Republican Party, several different Chambers of Commerce and Farm Bureaus, Celina Moose Lodge, Celina Eagles Lodge, Mercer County and Ohio Right to Life, National Rifle Association, Mercer County Sportsman, Lima Sabres, and also served two terms on the Mercer/Auglaize YMCA Board of Directors.

Representative Faber and his wife Andrea reside just outside Celina in Mercer County with their two children and attend Immaculate Conception Parish.
