Rep. Clyde Receives OSU Law School's Outstanding Recent Alumna Award

State Representative Kathleen Clyde (D-Kent) recently received the 2013 Outstanding Recent Alumna Award from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law Alumni Society. The annual award is presented to one individual who “has graduated in the last 10 years and whose accomplishments exemplify outstanding professionalism or loyalty to the Moritz community.”


Rep. Clyde graduated from of The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2008 as a Public Service Fellow with the Dean’s Highest Honors. During her time at OSU, she served as an editor of the law review, president of the Public Interest Law Foundation and as a student researcher at OSU’s Election Law Center.


“My experiences at Ohio State’s Moritz College of Law helped shape my work as a legislator and public servant,” said Rep. Clyde. “I could not be more honored to have received the Outstanding Recent Alumna Award.”


After law school, Rep. Clyde served as the Director of the Early Vote Center in Franklin County and as the Deputy Legal Counsel to the Speaker of the Ohio House, Armond Budish.  Now in her second term in the Ohio House of Representatives, Rep. Clyde is the ranking minority member on the Ohio House State & Local Government Committee and a member of the Finance & Appropriations Committee, the Policy & Legislative Oversight Committee and the Ohio Constitutional Modernization Commission.


Rep. Clyde represents the 75th Ohio House District, serving Kent, Ravenna, Streetsboro and central and southern Portage County.

Clyde Statement On Court Order Reinstating Voting Rights For Purged Voters

 

State Rep. Kathleen Clyde (D-Kent) today issued a statement following a recent federal court order requiring Secretary Husted to issue a directive reinstating the “APRI exception.” The court-ordered directive will require purged voters’ ballots to be counted in the upcoming central Ohio congressional race that will occur next Tuesday, August 7. 



 
 

Clyde: Back-to-school Sales Tax Holiday Starts This Weekend

 

Today State Rep. Kathleen Clyde (D-Kent) announced Ohio’s back-to-school sales tax-free holiday scheduled for this weekend, August 3-5, a result of the passage of Senate Bill (SB) 226. The annual event helps lessen the sting of the 4.5 percent statewide sales tax hike passed by Republican lawmakers in the 2013 state budget. Since 2013, the tax hike has cost taxpayers almost $2 billion according to state data.



 
 

Rep. Clyde Denounces Pay Raises For Retirement System Executives

 

State Rep. Kathleen Clyde (D-Kent) today denounced the School Employees Retirement System (SERS) of Ohio’s decision to raise salaries of its employees, including highly paid executives, by 3 percent while a three-year freeze on cost of living adjustments (COLA) for retirees is in place.
