State Rep. Kathleen Clyde (D-Kent) today announced the committees on which she will serve to help shape and refine public policy.

“I am honored by the opportunity to be ranking member on Government Accountability and Oversight, in addition to the other critical committee assignments I was chosen for,” said Rep. Clyde. “I look forward to bringing my expertise and commitment to voting rights to the table. Each of my committees will address critical issues for the future of Ohio, and I welcome the opportunity to work directly on all of these important matters.”

Rep. Clyde will be ranking member on Government Accountability and Oversight and will serve on the following committees:

-Finance and Appropriations Committee
-Public Utilities
-Finance and Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation

The House of Representatives has 19 standing committees. House Republicans have slightly altered the committee structure for the 131st General Assembly, splitting state and local government into two separate committees and adding the Community and Family Advancement Committee.

Committee meetings are crucial to the formation of laws; legislative proposals must be vetted through the committee process before full consideration by the House, allowing opponents and proponents to present testimony and voice opinions and creating the opportunity for alterations and improvements to legislation. Committees are open to the public and held any time before or after House floor sessions.
