Rep. Kathleen Clyde (D-Kent) issued the below statement about Senate Joint Resolution 5 on congressional redistricting.

 “Today’s bipartisan compromise was made possible by the more than 200,000 Ohioans who demanded better from their representatives.

“For far too long our redistricting process took place behind closed doors for the sole benefit of the party in power which leaves countless Ohioans without a voice.

“It shouldn’t have taken the threat of a ballot initiative to force the legislature to do the right thing, but I’m grateful to everyone who spoke out and I will continue fighting to ensure all Ohioans have fair representation.”
