Rep. Miller Brings Together Lorain County Officials To Support Veterans
Group resolves to work together to strengthen veterans' services

COLUMBUS- State Rep. Joe Miller (D-Amherst) facilitated a meeting today of local veteran leaders to discuss how increased collaboration and open dialogue can improve how veterans are serviced in the county. In attendance were Lorain County Commissioners, the county Veterans Service Office directors and commissioners as well as local veteran leaders.

“The brave men and women who take up residence in Lorain County after serving our nation deserve a comprehensive continuum of support to ensure they’re on track to succeed,” said Miller. “Whether it’s assistance finding employment, receiving the proper physical and mental healthcare, or benefit access.”

Miller is proud to have worked in the past with the Lorain Valor Home for veterans with emergent needs. He also recognizes the vital role of the Lorain County Veteran Services, which is set up to provide temporary short-term assistance and support to veterans who may have fallen on hard times.

In addition to leading discussions around veterans’ services on the local level, Rep. Miller is a joint sponsor on House Bill (HB) 325, legislation that would recognize the Honor and Remember Flag in Ohio. The Honor and Remember Flag, a symbol of appreciation for the sacrifice of America’s fallen heroes and their families, is recognized in 26 states around the country and supported by many individual gold star families and veteran’s organizations.
