State Rep. Joe Miller (D-Amherst) today announced the authorization of nearly $4.7 million in state funds for new equipment and upgrades at Lorain County Community College (LCCC). Among the projects is an internet network overhaul providing enhanced security, support for mobile devices and internet connectivity.

“Today’s decision is an important step towards ensuring Lorain County Community College is properly equipped to offer the best environment in which to work and learn,” said Rep. Miller. “A reliable, responsive network is essential for building a world-class educational facility.”

Additional state support is designated to outfit instructional labs for Microelectronic Manufacturing (MEMS) and Digital Manufacturing Line (DML) with new educational equipment. Both programs are focused on building skills for in-demand occupations in growing fields.

“I am pleased to see the state invest in the future of LCCC and our community,” said Rep. Miller. “The training provided by these facilities will prepare graduates for high-quality job opportunities and strengthen our local economy.”

The funds allocated to LCCC were originally approved as part of last year’s capital budget and were given final approval Monday by the Ohio Controlling Board, which oversees state spending.
