COLUMBUS—State Representative Jonathan Dever (R-Madeira) today applauded the Ohio House’s passage of legislation granting certain veterans’ organizations an exemption from property taxes.

House Bill 24, sponsored by Rep. Tim Ginter (R-Salem), expands a current tax exemption for property to qualifying 501(c)(4) veterans’ organizations that are exempt from federal income tax. Property that is not used for meetings, administrative needs, or to provide programs or services is excluded from this exemption.

“The purpose of our veterans’ organizations is to foster community and provide services and support,” Rep. Dever said. “Considering how much each and every one of our veterans has sacrificed for us, I am proud that we are able to pass this legislation as a small token of gratitude.”

House Bill 24 now heads to the Ohio Senate for consideration.
