State Representative Jonathan Dever (R-Madeira) today announced information regarding the application process for the Local Government Safety Capital Grant. Initiated by the Ohio House of Representatives and included in the state operating budget for fiscal years 2016 and 2017, these grants can help to fund public safety projects in local communities throughout Ohio, including those in the 28th House District.

Funding for eligible projects must be used for purchasing vehicles, equipment, facilities and/or systems utilized by police, fire, and/or EMS providers to enhance public safety. The total request amount for projects is $100,000 per individual political subdivision.

“These grants will ensure the safety of residents throughout Ohio,” said Rep. Dever.  “I am proud of the work the Ohio House has done to create the Safety Capital Grant program which will help local governments continue to maintain public safety, while relieving some of the financial burden.”

Applications must be submitted online and will be accepted February 16, 2016 through March 21, 2016, with final awards being made in May 2016. The Local Government Innovation Council will be the final approver of all grants.
