08.15.17 - Rep. Rogers Tapped To Serve As Member On Ohio Tuition Trust Authority

State Rep. John M. Rogers (D-Mentor-On-The-Lake) today announced his appointment to serve on the Board of Ohio Tuition Trust Authority, which is responsible for overseeing investments that administer CollegeAdvantage— or Ohio's 529 college savings program. This program is eligible for families across Ohio who are looking to save for their children’s college education program through a tax-exempt savings and investment plan.

“I am certainly excited about working to make college more affordable for families and students across Ohio,” said Rogers. “Ensuring that our youth have the opportunity and access to education beyond high school is vital to their personal success and independence. Their ability to excel beyond high school adds to the prosperity of our state and that of our communities.”

07.20.17 - Rep. Rogers Tapped To Serve On Tax Expenditure Review Committee

State Rep. John M. Rogers (D-Mentor-On-The-Lake) today announced his recent appointment to serve as a member on the Tax Expenditure Review Committee.

“It is an honor to be chosen to serve on this committee,” said Rogers. “My colleagues and I will work together in evaluating tax deductions and exemptions to ensure they are indeed serving their intended purpose with helping the growth of Ohio’s economy through genuine efforts to create or retain jobs, rather than being exploited and giving an unfair advantage to the recipient.”

06.28.17 - Rogers: State's Budget Is Built On Faulty Economic Projections, Six Years Of Poor Results And Empty Job Promises

Amid more than $1 billion revenue shortfall, Ohio’s General Assembly pushed state budget negotiations closer to the brink Tuesday. Today’s eleventh hour horse-trading over a proposed Medicaid lockout and complex shell game with state dollars leaves Gov. John Kasich has less than 48 hours to review House Bill 49, the state’s budget as enacted by the legislature, before the start of the new fiscal year on Saturday.

“Six years of questionable tax policy has left lawmakers today with tough policy decisions,” said state Rep. Rogers (D-Mentor-On-The-Lake).

06.23.17 - Rep. Rogers Announces House Passage Of Bipartisan Bill For Enhanced Driver's License

State Rep. John Rogers (D-Mentor-on-the-Lake) on Wednesday hailed the House passage of House Bill (HB) 60, legislation authorizing the issuance of an enhanced driver’s license, enhanced commercial driver’s license (CDL), and enhanced identification (ID) card to facilitate border crossings between the United States, Canada and Mexico.

HB 60, sponsored by Rep. Rogers and state Rep. Steve Hambley (R-Brunswick), would allow these enhanced driver’s licenses to be used by Ohio residents seeking to enter Canada or Mexico at authorized land and sea ports. These IDs contain specific technology and security features approved by the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, and may be used in the same manner as a driver’s license, CDL or ID card.
