COLUMBUS— State Representative John Patterson (D-Jefferson) today announced the passage of House Bill (HB) 13, Democratic priority legislation to create the Ohio Residential Broadband Expansion Program, specifically designed to bring broadband to unserved residential households.

HB 13 combines efforts by government and private enterprise with the goal of expanding broadband connectivity to unserved households across Ohio.

“For millennials, connectivity is crucial for competitive job creation. The flexibility to work from any location, particularly from home, is key in attracting and retaining young professionals in eastern Ohio,” Patterson said, “HB 13 is a victory for rural development; from the growth of businesses, to the use telemedicine, we will increase the opportunity for innovation in areas of our state that have been vastly underserved.”
