State Rep. John Rogers (D-Mentor-on-the-Lake) announced Thursday that the state has awarded a $5 million grant to help renovate and expand the Health Technologies building at Lakeland Community College.

“I was honored to join my colleagues from both sides of the aisle at the local, state and federal level to advocate for this critical funding,” said Rep. Rogers. “Renovating the Health Technologies building will enhance the already-wonderful campus facilities for current and future students at Lakeland. When we join together and support community colleges and institutions of higher learning, we help to create new and affordable opportunities for our children, strengthen our economy and better our community.”

The funding will aid improving the quality of training and education opportunities at Lakeland by incorporating state-of-the-art and emerging medical technologies. It is anticipated that these improvements will increase the number of skilled healthcare and technology workers in the region.
