State Rep. John Rogers (D-Mentor-on-the-Lake) today announced $56,680 in grants from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to communities throughout Lake County. The funding will aid in the completion of boating access facility projects and boating safety education programs.

“As a boater, I know that safety is paramount,” said Rep. Rogers. “Our boaters need opportunities to learn about safety protocols and boating education needs to be readily available and easily accessible. And our local leaders must have the appropriate resources to enforce the rules and keep the public safe. I believe these grants will help our local communities achieve these important goals.”

The funding was provided through the Cooperative Boating Facility Grant Program and The Waterways Safety Fund, which consists of a portion of the state motor fuels tax, watercraft registration and titling fees and funding from the U.S. Coast Guard.
