COLUMBUS -

State Representative John Becker (R-Union Township) was honored last night in Cincinnati at the Annual Spring Partnership Banquet hosted by Citizens for  Community Values (CCV). This year Representative Becker was the recipient of the William Wilberforce Elected Official Leadership Award.

William Wilberforce was a member of the British Parliament. In the mid-twenties Wilberforce converted to Christianity, changing his approach to politics.  For over 20 years, without regard for his own career or even his own health, he fought the establishment and fought his own party to abolish the British slave trade.

CCV explained that this year Rep. Becker was chosen because he not only stood for community values but he has also introduced numerous bills that strive to improve the quality of life for all Ohioans. One resolution in particular pushed for the impeachment of a federal judge who over-reached and single-handedly tried to block the will of 3 million voters.

“It’s both exciting and humbling to be chosen for such a prestigious award,” Rep. Becker said. “I speak from the heart and legislate the same way.”
