COLUMBUS—State Representative John Becker (R-Union Township, Clermont County) today announced he has introduced House Bill 182, which ensures that insurance plans offered in Ohio are financially separate from abortion coverage.

The bill will ensure that Ohioans participating in health plans do not subsidize such an inhumane procedure with their insurance premium dollars. HB 182 does not apply to private-sector self-insured companies, nor does it prohibit any entity from directly paying for their employees’ abortion services.

“This bill is primarily about saving lives while ensuring that Ohioans don’t need to choose between maintaining their insurance plan and violating their conscience,” said Rep. Becker. “It prevents ratepayers from subsidizing the killing of innocent human beings.”

House Bill 182 was introduced today, and it will be referred to a House committee for further consideration.
