Boccieri Applauds Kasich's New PUCO Appointment
Newest member finally makes the Commission bipartisan once again

State Rep. John Boccieri (D-Poland) today applauded Governor John Kasich’s new appointment to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, M. Howard Petricoff. The longtime energy attorney is the first Democratic commissioner selected by Kasich during his tenure as governor.

“I applaud the governor for this bipartisan appointment, which truly shows he is serious about the type of good government he talked about on the campaign trail,” Rep. Boccieri said. “I look forward to working with Mr. Petricoff to extend broadband service to residents in my district, keep rates affordable for individuals and business alike, and make sure Ohio has stable energy production going forward.”

By law, PUCO must have no more than three members from, or affiliated with, a single political party. The panel has been made up of Republicans and Independents since the last Democratic member’s term expired in April of last year.

Mr. Petricoff, one of 19 individuals to apply for the position, is a former attorney for the law firm Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease and was previously a special assistant attorney for Ohio universities on power plant and gas pipeline issues. His appointment is subject to Senate approval.

Rep. Boccieri serves on the House Public Utilities Committee.
