07.12.17 - Representative Butler Introduces Legislation To Protect System Of Checks And Balances

 

COLUMBUS—State Representative Jim Butler (R-Oakwood) has introduced House Bill 301, which requires approval by the General Assembly for a state agency or public official to agree to a court-sanctioned final settlement agreement, also known as a consent decree, that would permanently alter or prohibit the enforcement of an Ohio law. 

 
 

06.28.17 - Representative Butler Responds To Passage Of State Operating Budget

State Representative Jim Butler (R-Oakwood) today voted in favor of the state operating budget, House Bill 49, citing the preservation of the Healthcare Price Transparency Law as his primary reason for doing so.  Representative Butler was the author of that law, which was included in House Bill 52 in June of 2015.

COLUMBUS—State Representatives Jim Butler (R-Oakwood) and Emilia Strong Sykes (D-Akron) have introduced legislation which corrects a current injustice in the criminal justice system related to driver’s license suspensions and the granting of limited driving privileges. Currently, for many offenses unrelated to the operation or use of a vehicle, such as failure to pay child support or a court fine, complete license suspension is used as a punishment.
