State Representative Jim Buchy returns to the Ohio House of Representatives to serve another term, having been appointed to the Ohio House in 2011. Representative Buchy was elected by his fellow legislators to serve as assistant majority whip for the 130th General Assembly. He represents the 84th District, which encompasses Mercer County, as well as portions of Auglaize, Darke and Shelby counties.

The drug problem facing our community in western Ohio and across the state is an issue that requires persistent attention and steadfast resolve. I have been very tuned into this issue and will keep working to address it.

 

 
 

07.22.14 - State Leaders Working To Ensure Local Control For Our Schools

 

Recently I joined families in west central Ohio to participate in “We Will Not Conform,” hosted by Glenn Beck. This program was hosted at movie theatres across the country where viewers served as audience participants in the program that focused on the pitfalls of Common Core. This experience opened my eyes even more to the risks associated with the Common Core and further solidified the need to stop the implementation of it in Ohio. 

 
 

07.16.14 - The Second Treaty Of Greenville Bicentennial Celebration

 

On July 22, 1814, a treaty of peace and friendship was signed between the United States of America and several Native American tribes including the Wyandots, Delawares, Shawanoese, Senecas, and Miamies. Signed in Greenville, this treaty established peace as well as an alliance between Native American tribes and the United States against Great Britain in the War of 1812.

 
 

07.15.14 - Bipartisan Proposal Would Ban Sale Of Powdered Alcohol In Ohio

 

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Ronald V. Gerberry (D-Austintown) and Assistant Majority Whip Jim Buchy (R-Greenville) today introduced legislation—House bill 594—to prohibit the sale of powdered or crystalline alcohol in Ohio. Also known as Palcohol, the product is freeze-dried alcohol in powdered form that can be mixed with water to make a cocktail.
