State Representative Jim Buchy returns to the Ohio House of Representatives to serve another term, having been appointed to the Ohio House in 2011. Representative Buchy was elected by his fellow legislators to serve as assistant majority whip for the 130th General Assembly. He represents the 84th District, which encompasses Mercer County, as well as portions of Auglaize, Darke and Shelby counties.

State Representative Jim Buchy (R-Greenville) today announced that legislation designating a portion of State Route 67 in Auglaize County as the “Staff Sgt. Sonny Zimmerman Memorial Highway” has passed the Ohio House. Senate Bill 185 passed unanimously out of the House Transportation, Public Safety, and Homeland Security Committee.

As I travel around the 84th District and talk to people, people sometimes ask me about some of the important issues that we are working on in Columbus. Of course, topics like agriculture are discussed, as well as the state’s overall economy. But whenever I bring up the topic of overcoming Ohio’s drug addiction epidemic, I often see a lot of surprised looks on people’s faces. Although more people are becoming aware of this problem, for many it is not something they have heard much about.
