State Representative Jim Buchy returns to the Ohio House of Representatives to serve another term, having been appointed to the Ohio House in 2011. Representative Buchy was elected by his fellow legislators to serve as assistant majority whip for the 130th General Assembly. He represents the 84th District, which encompasses Mercer County, as well as portions of Auglaize, Darke and Shelby counties.

When I first was elected to the Ohio House in 1983, the Medicaid budget in the state was $3 billion. Since that time it has grown faster than the rate of inflation and is now $26 billion. Medicaid gets more than primary and secondary education and takes up nearly 40 percent of the state’s operating budget.
