State Rep. Jamie Callender (R-Concord), co-chairman of the House Finance Committee, voted to pass Senate Bill 310, which will provide federal COVID-19 relief funding to local governments. Callender acknowledged how this support will go toward areas within the 61st House District.

“I was happy to work with all parties on this measure, the committee, the Governor, and everyone else on coming together on an agreed solution,” said Callender. “We continued capital reappropriations funding totaling $5 million in project financing for Lakeland Community College and CARES distribution to local governments significantly helping Lake County and our cities, villages, and townships.”

In total, the bill appropriates up to $350 million to counties, municipalities, and townships for COVID-19 related expenses through the CARES Act.

Callender also noted that he worked with the Lake County Commissioner Jerry Cirino, officials from Lake County and the Northeast Ohio Mayors and Managers Associations to make sure the distribution formula was favorable to the area.

“The legislation will have a direct, local impact to areas across the state and right here in Lake County,” said Callender. “With many affected by this unprecedented pandemic, it’s key we give our local areas the much-needed relief they require.”

The legislation now heads over to the Senate for concurrence.
