State Representative Jack Cera (D-Bellaire) announced today that the State of Ohio is releasing capital funds in the amount of $1,000,000 to conduct cleanup activities on the former RG Steel site located in Steubenville, Ohio.

The funding comes from the Clean Ohio Assistance Fund and will be used to assist demolition and remediation efforts at the former RG Steel site. According to Representative Cera, River Rail Development LLC is set to redevelop the site as an industrial park, creating 50 new jobs in the process. The industrial park will support the needs of metal recycling and shale gas operations.

“Working together on this project, the city, county and state are assisting River Rail in its efforts to put eastern Ohioans back to work,” said Rep. Cera. “I applaud the progress in making this site suitable for the $15 million investment by River Rail.”
