State Rep. Jack Cera (D-Bellaire) today announced the release of over $300,000 in state funds for infrastructure repairs at Ohio University Eastern (OUE) campus, located in Belmont County. The funding was approved yesterday by the state Controlling Board, a panel tasked with oversight of state spending.

“OUE provides affordable and quality education to many local residents and students from nearby communities,” said Cera. “These infrastructure improvements will make OUE’s campus more appealing, accessible and welcoming to current and prospective students. I look forward to seeing the state support more development projects in Belmont County.”

The infrastructure renovations will help restore the campus’ outdated Health and Physical Education Recreation Community Center parking lot by replacing the existing pavement and grass parking islands with heavy asphalt. The parking lot was originally constructed in 1997 and has deteriorated due to age, weather and everyday use. The state funding will also help repair an aging decorative retaining wall located along the parking lot.
