Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) has appointed State Representative Kyle Koehler (R-Springfield) to the Straight A Fund Governing Board.

The Board oversees the $250 million grant program, Straight A Fund, which was created in House Bill 59 of the 130th General Assembly, the budget bill for fiscal years 2014-15. It promotes sustainable, innovative ideas to modernize the state’s education system by providing grants for projects designed to improve student achievement, direct greater share of resources into the classroom and increase efficiency and effectiveness.

“The Straight A Fund Governing Board plays a vital role in our effort of putting more attention and resources directly into the classroom,” Speaker Rosenberger said. “Through his work in the House, and particularly in the Education Committee, Rep. Koehler has shown that he will be a great member of the board, as well as a tireless advocate for Ohio’s students.”

"I appreciate the opportunity to serve the people of Ohio by representing them on the Straight A Governing Board,” Koehler said. “As a father of five children, I understand the importance of quality education and finding innovative ways to improve education. Every student is different, and we desperately need to promote the innovative ideas developed by local teachers to overcome challenges in the classroom."

The Straight A Fund Governing Board consists of the superintendent of public instruction, four members appointed by the Governor, and two members from both the Ohio House and Senate.
