State Representative Michael P. Sheehy (D-Oregon) is serving an unexpired term vacated by former Rep. Matt Szollosi.  District 46 spans several political subdivisions including Jerusalem Township on the east to Springfield Township on the west. The district includes the cities of Oregon, Maumee, parts of Toledo, and the Village of Holland.

On Tuesday, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-Toledo) announced a $2 million dollar federal grant to help mitigate harmful algal blooms by reducing fertilizer runoff into the Western Lake Erie basin.
