Heather Bishoff’s commitment to a tradition of public service stretches back to her great grandfather, who sat on Worthington’s City Council. Her grandfather provided security to members of the community as an insurance salesman for JCPenney’s, and Heather’s grandmother worked for Western Electric in the building on Broad Street that later became Lucent Technologies. The eldest child of union workers, Heather learned from them at a young age the value of hard work. At the age of 12, she earned her first paycheck delivering The Columbus Dispatch to her neighbors in Rey...

08.15.16 - Rep. Bishoff Selected To Serve On Ohio Joint Study Committee On Drug Use Prevention Education

State Rep. Heather Bishoff (D-Blacklick) was selected last week as one of six Ohio lawmakers chosen to serve on the Ohio Joint Study Committee on Drug Use Prevention Education. The twenty-two member committee has been assembled as a response to Ohio’s increasing rate of opioid-related deaths and overdoses. The committee will spend 90 days traveling across the state to study substantive ways to educate Ohio’s youth on drug use prevention.

“Educating our children on the dangers of drug abuse from an early age is critical to our overall efforts to prevent drug addiction,” said Bishoff. “I have witnessed the devastating effect of drug abuse and addiction on far too many central Ohio families, especially during the current opioid addiction epidemic. I look forward to traveling to all corners of the state to talk with families and advocates on how we can improve our drug use prevention education programs.”

08.12.16 - Rep. Bishoff, Education Leaders Discuss Funding, Transparency, Testing Reforms At Public Forum

08.03.16 - Bishoff, Education Leaders To Hold Public Forum On The State Of Education

State Rep. Heather Bishoff (D-Blacklick) will join former First Lady Dr. Frances Strickland and President of the Reynoldsburg City School Board Joe Begeny for a public forum to discuss the state of education in Ohio Wednesday, Aug. 10 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Reynoldsburg.

“In light of recent changes and controversies surrounding Ohio’s education system, including new testing and charter school oversight standards, I wanted to engage citizens in a meaningful way on the state of Ohio education before the start of the new school year,” said Bishoff, a former Gahanna-Jefferson Board of Education member.

07.22.16 - Bishoff Responds To Ohio Joining Aetna-Humana Merger Opposition

State Rep. Heather Bishoff  (D-Blacklick) responded to today’s news that Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine will join the U.S. Department of Justice in opposition to the proposed healthcare insurance merger of Aetna and Humana. DeWine’s involvement comes after Ohio Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor rubber-stamped the merger in May of this year, following the Blacklick lawmaker’s request to her for public hearings due to  concerns of increased consumer costs, lower-quality service and an overall reduction in Ohioans’ access to healthcare that such a merger could bring.

“I am pleased Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine agrees with my concerns that the proposed merger of Aetna and Humana could reduce access to healthcare for Ohio families,” said Bishoff.
