Haraz N. Ghanbari Selected to Fill 3rd District House Seat
COLUMBUS – Speaker Larry Householder (R-Glenford) today announced that Haraz N. Ghanbari was selected to represent the 3rd House District, covering the entirety of Wood County. Representative Ghanbari will replace Senator Theresa Gavarone who was selected to serve in the Ohio Senate in February, 2019.
“We are grateful to Rep. Ghanbari for his willingness to serve the 3rd House District of Ohio,” said Speaker Householder. “He brings to this position a wealth of experience and history of service that will be of great benefit to the people of Wood County and the State of Ohio.”
Representative Ghanbari is a public affairs officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve, serving as a Lieutenant Commander. Ghanbari also served in the Army National Guard from 1999-2007. Furthermore, he was elected councilman for the city of Perrysburg and was the Director of Military and Veteran Affairs at the University of Toledo.
Representative Ghanbari was inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame in 2018 and received the Bronze Minuteman Award from the Ohio National Guard. In addition, he has a Bachelor of Science in Visual Journalism from Kent State University and has received numerous photojournalism awards. Ghanbari was also the youngest Associated Press staff photo journalist in the AP's Washington, D.C. Bureau, and was assigned as a member of the White House Press Corps.

I am grateful and humbled by the confidence Speaker Householder has placed in me," said Ghanbari. Ghanbari will be elected by House Majority members in House Session this afternoon at 1:00pm.
