COLUMBUS— State Representative Gayle Manning (R-North Ridgeville) today applauded the launch of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Conservation Teen Advisory Council (ConTAC).

ODNR is looking for students entering grades 9-12 to serve as the founding class of ConTAC and be the voice of Ohio’s youth. Thirty teens will be selected to help shape ODNR’s youth outreach and program strategies. ConTAC will work on conservation-related issues which are important to Ohio teens and offer recommendations.

“This is a great opportunity for our young leaders, entering grades 9-12, to speak up about conservation related issues,” Manning said. "Preserving Ohio’s natural resources for future generations to enjoy is imperative. As a retired teacher, I encourage eligible students to apply for ConTAC. It will prove to be a great hands-on experience for participants.”

ConTAC will connect students across the state and help them meet peers with similar interests. Additionally, students will participate in outdoor opportunities and develop leadership skills. Students interested in natural resource conservation, outdoor recreation, wildlife, or simply making a positive impact within the Buckeye State are encouraged to apply.

More information about ConTAC can be found at www.ohiodnr.gov/teens. The deadline to apply is June 7, 2019.
