State Representative Gary Scherer (R-Circleville) has announced that the House Tax Reform Legislative Study Committee will meet for the first time this week.

The hearing will be held Wednesday, August 14th at the Ohio University Chillicothe Branch (101 University Drive, Chillicothe, OH 45601) at 10 a.m. All tax issues will be up for discussion, with the exception of the municipal income tax.

Anyone wishing to offer testimony should submit a written version of the testimony to Alex Goodman at (614)644-7928 or by noon Tuesday. Due to the limited time available for testimony, Chairman Scherer asks that it is limited to five minutes per presentation to allow adequate time for questions and conversation.

The Tax Reform Study Committee is one of three study committees being conducted this summer by the Ohio House of Representatives.

"Shared Work" Program Passes House


The Ohio House of Representatives unanimously passed Sub. House Bill 37,, legislation sponsored by State Representatives Mike Duffey (R-Worthington) and Gary Scherer (R-Circleville) to help prevent layoffs across the state. The bill is now headed to the Ohio Senate where a companion bill has already passed, indicating a likelihood of bill passage in the near future.
