State Representative Gary Scherer (R-Circleville) today applauded the State Controlling Board’s release of funding to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for a development project in the 92nd District.

According to documents from the Office of Budget and Management, the Controlling Board approved $247,188 in funding for the development of the Clinton Fayette Friendship Trail, which includes 2.2 miles of paved shared-use trail on a former utility corridor. Section 1 of the development project will stretch from Bush Road NW to Jamison Road, and Section 2 is from Jasper Road to Cline Road near Washington Courthouse.

The funding is part of the Clean Ohio Trails Fund, which provides competitive statewide grants to communities for the purpose of improving outdoor recreation, specifically recreational trails. The request was approved at today’s Controlling Board meeting in Columbus.

He represents the 92nd Ohio House District, which includes Fayette County, as well as portions of Pickaway and Ross counties.  This will be his third full term as state representative.

"Shared Work" Program Passes House


The Ohio House of Representatives unanimously passed Sub. House Bill 37,, legislation sponsored by State Representatives Mike Duffey (R-Worthington) and Gary Scherer (R-Circleville) to help prevent layoffs across the state. The bill is now headed to the Ohio Senate where a companion bill has already passed, indicating a likelihood of bill passage in the near future.
