COLUMBUS - 

State Representative Gary Scherer (R-Circleville) was sworn in as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives for the 131st General Assembly during a ceremony at the Statehouse yesterday.


“I am grateful to the constituents of the 92nd district to entrust me with this position,” Scherer said. “I will use this opportunity to make our community the best place to live now, and for generations to come.”


This is the beginning of Scherer’s second full term in the House after being appointed to fill the seat in the 129th General Assembly. He represents the 92nd District, which includes Fayette County, as well as portions of Pickaway and Ross counties.


A graduate of The Ohio State University, Scherer has worked for most of his career as a CPA, and has also worked as president of the Circleville Oil Company. In addition, he has operated a number of franchised tax preparation offices throughout Ohio.


Prior to joining the House, he served as president of the Circleville Rotary Club and the Circleville-Pickaway Chamber of Commerce. Scherer also served as a trustee for Berger Health Systems. He maintains membership in the Ohio Farm Bureau.


Rep. Scherer and his wife live in Circleville. They have three children and eight grandchildren.

"Shared Work" Program Passes House

 
COLUMBUS - 

The Ohio House of Representatives unanimously passed Sub. House Bill 37,, legislation sponsored by State Representatives Mike Duffey (R-Worthington) and Gary Scherer (R-Circleville) to help prevent layoffs across the state. The bill is now headed to the Ohio Senate where a companion bill has already passed, indicating a likelihood of bill passage in the near future.
