State Representative Gary Scherer is currently serving his third term in the Ohio House of Representatives after being appointed to the 129th General Assembly. He represents the 92nd House District, which includes Fayette County, as well as portions of Pickaway and Ross counties. He serves as the Vice Chair of the Ways and Means Committee and is a member of the Finance Committee.

07.17.18 - Rep. Scherer Meets With Prevent Blindness Vision Screening Volunteers

 

CHILLICOTHE—The Ohio Affiliate of Prevent Blindness today held a preschool vision screening training workshop for area professionals who serve young children at the northern branch of the Chillicothe and Ross County Library. State Representative Gary Scherer (R-Circleville) was on hand to greet the volunteers at the training and thank them for their commitment to saving the sight of Ohio’s children.

06.27.18 - Ohio House Votes To Extend Pension Benefits For Certain Non-Teacher School Employees

 


COLUMBUS—The Ohio House today voted with bipartisan support for House Bill 572, legislation that allows county developmental disabilities board employees who perform full-time services in a school to be eligible for a full year of service with the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) if they are employed throughout the academic year, which is only nine months.

 
 

06.21.18 - Rep. Gary Scherer Reacts To Wayfair Supreme Court Decision

 

COLUMBUS—The U.S. Supreme Court today issued its decision in the South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc. case pertaining to states’ ability to collect sales tax from online retailers that do not have a brick and mortar, or physical presence, within the state. In a 5-4 ruling in favor of South Dakota, today’s decision sets a precedent to allow states to collect sales tax from all online purchases.
