House DemocraticMembers of the Veteran Caucus today sent a letter to Governor DeWine calling on him to urge President Trump to rescind his orders ending National Guard deployments. The letter, signed by state Reps. Lisa Sobecki (D-Toledo), Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson), Erica Crawley (D-Columbus) and Mike Sheehy (D-Oregon), notes that the “hard stop” for deployments falls one day short of the 90-day threshold where National Guard service members would qualify to receive early retirement, education, among other benefits.

COLUMBUS— Today, State Rep. Erica C. Crawley (D-Columbus) announced legislation to regulate water utility providers' ability to curtail, disrupt or disconnect water service to customers. The legislation would ensure that customers would not have their service curtailed, disrupted or disconnected due to the nonpayment of fees and charges for the service. Each public water system would also develop a water affordability program to establish a sliding scale based on customer income to set water service fees and charges, as well as an affordable and attainable payment schedule.

Health impact statements would enable legislators to consider the impact legislation will have on the health, social determinants of health and health equity of constituents.

COLUMBUS—State Reps. Paula Hicks-Hudson (D-Toledo) and Erica C. Crawley (D-Columbus) today issued a statement on their recently introduced legislation to provide Medicaid reimbursement for doula services. The legislation allows the Medicaid program to cover services provided by a doula with a valid provider agreement who submits specific documentation to the Medicaid director meeting requirements including, but not limited to, proof that the doula has a current, valid certificate issued by a doula certification organization.

COLUMBUS— State Reps. Erica Crawley (D-Columbus) and David Leland (D-Columbus) introduced a bill Monday to expand unemployment compensation in Ohio throughout the COVID-19 crisis. The bill would do away with work-seeking requirements for the duration of the crisis, allow caregivers for children under 13 to access unemployment compensation and lower the minimum average weekly income required in order to access unemployment compensation so that it would accommodate part-time workers who earned minimum wage.
