State Rep. Emilia Sykes (D-Akron) today released the following statement regarding the U.S. Supreme Court decision in the case of Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, in which the court found that restrictions on access to comprehensive healthcare in Texas placed an undue burden on women, violating the American Constitution:

“I am pleased the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the right of women to have full and unfettered access to reproductive healthcare services. As the state of Ohio continues to place undue burdens on women who are simply seeking healthcare, state lawmakers should take note of this ruling and recognize that a woman’s right to make their own healthcare choices continues to be protected under the U.S. Constitution.”
