COLUMBUS—State Representative Don Jones (R-Freeport) today provided sponsor testimony on House Bill 98, legislation that will reinstate the Rural Industrial Park Loan fund (RIPL).  This legislation is joint-sponsored by Jack Cera (D-Bellaire).

This legislation was introduced last General Assembly by Andy Thompson and was numbered HB 695. This fund will help business leaders in rural areas upgrade greenfield sites and buildings. HB 98 will allocate $25,000,000 to the RIPL from the Facilities Establishment Fund, which currently holds over $300,000,000.

“This fund will help rural area business leaders thrive and develop new projects,” said Jones. “Re-appropriating this money will help rural Ohio succeed by bringing good paying jobs and a better standard of living to the region.”

House Bill 98 will now await its second hearing.
