COLUMBUS – Speaker Larry Householder (R-Glenford) appointed Representative Derek Merrin (R-Monclova Township) to the Ohio Retirement Study Council. The purpose of the council is to advise and inform the state legislature on all matters related to the five statewide retirement systems in Ohio.

The Council is comprised of nine voting members including three state senators, three state representatives, and three Governor appointees. The five executive directors of the state systems serve as nonvoting members.

“It’s a fantastic appointment, and I’m excited to get to work.  The opportunity to safeguard and ensure our state retirement systems are the finest in the nation is an honor,” Merrin said.

Ohio’s five statewide retirement systems are the Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS), State Teachers Retirement System (STRS), School Employees Retirement System (SERS), and Police and Fire Pension Fund (OP&F), and the State Highway Patrol Retirement System (SHPRS).
