Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) issued a statement regarding today’s announcement that University of Cincinnati President Santa Ono will be resigning from his position to serve as President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of British Columbia.

“President Ono has been an energetic and forward-thinking leader for the University of Cincinnati, and his ability to connect with students to modernize the institution is unprecedented. From his impact on social media to his courageous story about his past struggles with depression, Ono has been a strong voice for the student community.

“Under his direction as president, the university has seen incredible growth, achieving its largest enrollment ever and enhancing the university’s deserved recognition as a national leader in higher education.  I have thoroughly enjoyed working with him on a host of issues, and I wish my dear friend the best of luck in all of his future endeavors. The University of British Columbia has gained the talent of one of Ohio’s finest.”
