Although the weather hasn’t shown it yet (knock on wood), another Christmas and New Year season has arrived. As we approach the close of 2015, we not only hopefully have the chance to spend time with family and loved ones, but we can also take a moment to reflect on the past year and call to mind all the people around us who helped us enjoy such a great year.

Of course, that all begins with our men and women serving in uniform all over the globe, who may not have been able to see their family in quite some time. They sacrifice their own lives each and every day to preserve our freedom, security and principles here at home. Let’s always keep them and their families in our thoughts during the holiday season.

I am also blessed to represent a district in the Ohio House that I believe is a true representation of America’s heartland, filled with people that make our state and nation prosper. It is an honor to call Clinton County home, and each vote I cast, bill I sponsor or initiative I support is done based on what I believe upholds the principles and values of our region.

This is a season of the heart. It is a special time filled with caring and one that brings people together. While it may seem like a tall task, we should try to embrace this feeling of compassion and togetherness every day of the year. As with anything in life, we will occasionally be faced with turbulent and trying times, but with the helping hand of our families and loved ones—wherever they may be—we can get through our challenges and come out stronger on the other end.

I want to wish all of the men, women and children of the 91st Ohio House District a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year.
