State Rep. Christina Hagan Gives Sponsor Testimony On House Bill 130
Bill would increase transparency in state government with DataOhio

COLUMBUS -

Representative Christina Hagan (R-Alliance) yesterday gave sponsor testimony to the House State Government Committee on House Bill 130, which would increase access to online public records.

Rep. Hagan spoke to the committee about the legislation:

“DataOhio is an initiative aimed at increasing government transparency by making information easily available to the public. My joint sponsor, Representative Duffey, and I believe that these modernization efforts will provide for better access to needed information and result in better governance and accountability. DataOhio will make it easier to quickly and effectively obtain public information. We believe that providing greater, clearer access to data will help to improve the lives of Ohio citizens almost immediately and ease burdens for local and state governments in the long term.”

H.B. 130 would create a website, data.Ohio.gov, and a 15-member DataOhio Board, which would make recommendations to the General Assembly regarding online access to public records. The website would function as an online catalog of public records of local governments, state government and public offices, operated by the Auditor of State.

State Representative Christina Hagan is currently serving her second term in the Ohio House of Representatives. She represents the 50th House District, which includes eastern Stark County.
