State Representative Christina Hagan (R-Alliance) installed new 4-H officers for the 2015 year for both the Country Barbwires 4-H Club and the Country Folks 4-H Club on Monday.  The ceremony was held in Alliance.

“It is a joy to participate with the kids during their installment process in 4-H,” said Rep. Hagan. “It is even better watching them grow through their years of membership.”

4-H is a youth organization administered by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture of the United States Department of Agriculture. The name represents the four focus areas for the youths who join the organization: head, heart, hands, and health. Each year, officers are elected by their peers in their respective clubs to fill different leadership roles.

Two of the officers elected Monday commented on 4-H and how it has helped them in their lives:

“4-H has had a very large impact in my life. Through raising animals, I have learned responsibility and time management. Through project judging, I have learned important interview skills,” said Sarah Weisent, President of Country Folks 4-H Club.

“4-H has given me the opportunity to not only learn many of the responsibilities that are useful in the business world, but also has taught me great leadership skills, whether it be in my community or later on in life,” said Bryan Poynter, President of Country Barbwires 4-H Club.

State Representative Christina Hagan is currently serving her second term in the Ohio House of Representatives. She represents the 50th House District, which includes eastern Stark County.
