Rep. Hagan Congratulates City Of Alliance Fire Department For Earning Safety Capital Grant
Grants will help fund public safety projects in local communities

State Representative Christina Hagan (R-Alliance) today congratulated the City of Alliance Fire Department for being named a recipient of the Local Government Safety Capital Grant funds.

Initiated by the Ohio House of Representatives and included in the state operating budget for fiscal years 2016 and 2017, these grants can be used to help fund public safety projects in local communities throughout Ohio.

Local governments could apply for the grants for eligible projects, but the funding must be used for purchasing vehicles, equipment, facilities and/or systems utilized by police, fire, and/or EMS providers to enhance public safety.

“I am glad to see state dollars working for our local communities especially as it relates to the way we communicate during emergencies with the shared interest of safety,” Rep. Hagan said.

The grant will allow the City of Alliance Fire Department to upgrade the current dispatch system according to FCC regulations by purchasing a MCC7500 Console. Additionally, it will assist in communication with public safety services including law enforcement, EMA, ODOT, and any incident responders.

The Local Government Innovation Council administers the program.
