State Representative Christina Hagan (R-Alliance) and the 2015 Greater Alliance Carnation Festival Queen, Brittany Ring, invite students from House District 50 to an end-of-summer event on August 12th from 1-3PM. Representative Hagan and 2015 Carnation Queen, Brittany Ring, are spending time with students to read The Story of the Scarlet Carnation book that was produced by the Greater Alliance Carnation Festival Board in 2014, written by Catherine Brookes.  The event will be held at the Miller Pavilion at Silver Park, which is located at:

2930 S. Union Ave.
Alliance, OH 44601
The scarlet carnation was designated the official state flower in 1904 as a sign of reverence for President William McKinley, who frequently wore carnations throughout his political career. Alliance was given the designation “The Carnation City” by the Ohio General Assembly in 1959, and has held a Carnation Festival every year since 1960.

As representative of the Carnation City, Representative Hagan, along with Carnation Queen Brittany Ring, would like to use the remainder of the summer to share this short book with students from Alliance and the surrounding areas.

Please e-mail: or call 614-466-9078 if you have any questions about this event. You can RSVP to Representative Hagan’s office or on her Facebook event page at:
