State Representative Christina M. Hagan (R-Marlboro Township) will give testimony tomorrow afternoon on H.B. 168, the PSEO Expansion. Her testimony has attracted the attention of award-winning filmmaker Sarah Enright. Sarah’s crew will be in town filming the testimony as part of a documentary on the value of higher education.

“This bill is vital to the success of the state and future generations, in particular the Millennial Generation, as a competitive workforce to expand our vision of higher education to encompass not only what is taught in the classroom but also what is gained from real life experience learning on the job site,” Hagan said.

The bill would expand the current post secondary enrollment options program to include U.S. Department of Labor-certified trade apprenticeships. The current program allows students in high school to also enroll in college courses and earn dual college and high school credit. This allows students to get a jumpstart on their college careers, while still being able to participate in extra-curricular activities. H.B. 168 would expand that to include trade apprenticeships, allowing students to earn money and work towards their trade certification while still in high school.
