State Representative Christina Hagan (R-Alliance) has introduced a bill to designate the month of March as “Endometriosis Awareness Month.”

Rep. Hagan spoke about the legislation:

“It has been an honor to work beside the brave women from our district in raising awareness about medical conditions unique to women. Many women experience the challenge of endometriosis, a condition that can be life-altering. I personally believe that knowledge is power, and the better we understand what our peers are going through, the better we can love and serve them. Naming March “Endometriosis Awareness Month” will allow a platform for greater discussion on exactly what these strong women are facing and provide relief to many women in Ohio with the knowledge that they are no longer alone.”

Endometriosis is a disorder affecting women in which tissue which would normally line the inside of the uterus grows externally and in other parts of the body. This disorder of the reproductive tissue can cause pain, irritation, scar tissue and fertility problems. It affects around 5 million women in the United States.

State Representative Christina Hagan is currently serving her second term in the Ohio House of Representatives. She represents the 50th House District, which includes eastern Stark County.
